God became man

Could God really become man?

This is the issue behind our faith. This is the shocking claim of Christianity.

Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, has become one of us in order to be our saving substitute and to represent us as his brothers and sisters in the very presence of the Father .

Because of Christ, we have a relationship with God! The Holy Spirit dwells in us. We belong to the Father and are, in Christ, the beloved of the Father. All of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit is involved in our salvation.

This means that the Christian life and faith are primarily about four kinds of personal relationship:

the internal relationships of holy love shared by the Father and Son in the Holy Spirit from all eternity,

the relationship of the eternal Son with us as one of us – joined forever to our humanity.

 This blesses us us with:

the relationship of we have with the Father through the Son and by the Spirit,

This means we belong to God’s family enjoying:

the relationship we have with one another as children of the Father redeemed by Jesus Christ.

Message for the Day

Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Dear Sovereign Lord,

We rejoice in Jesus Christ: the child who was born, the son who was given.

We rejoice that the burden of governance is upon his shoulders.

Because he reigns, we can lift up to him all who suffer and are persecuted on account of his name.

May Christ the Wonderful Counsellor give wisdom and guidance to all who seek him.

May Christ the Mighty God (el-gibbor: literally the warrior God) defend and fight for his people.

May Christ the Everlasting Father comfort and care for his precious children.

And may Christ the Prince of Peace establish and uphold his Kingdom – overcoming all opposition – as he zealously spreads justice and righteousness throughout the world.

For the sake of his Church and for the glory of his name, AMEN

 (Prayer based on Isaiah 9:6,7)
