Who is Jesus Christ? The foundation of WCG’s doctrines — is the answer to the all-important theological question: Who is Jesus Christ? “Who” is a key word in this question. At its core, theology is about a living person, Jesus Christ. Who is this person? “Who is this Jesus Christ who saves?” And, “Who are we — the ones that Jesus saves?” Who are you Lord? This is the principal theological question — and note it is about a “who,” not a “what” or a “how.” “Who are you Lord” was Paul’s anguished question on the Damascus Road, where he was struck down by the resurrected Jesus (Acts 9:5). Paul spent the rest of his life answering this question, then sharing the answer with all
who would listen. Indeed, the answer, revealed to us in Scripture, is the heart of the gospel and the focus of Trinitarian, Christ-centered Theology. What is the significance of the incarnation? For example how many people, when singing one of the most popular Christmas carols, O Come All Ye Faithful, actually pause and reflect on words such as: God of God Light
of light Lo, he abhors not the virgin’s womb Very God Begotten, not created Yes Lord we greet thee Born this happy morning Jesus, to thee be glory given Word of the Father Now in flesh appearing. There is a lot of theology packed in those two verses. We spent 8 days in Ulladulla trying to unpack some of it.
With all the financial storm clouds about we need to seek the assurances of our hope in the Yes God has said to us in the sending of his Son to be become like one of us – experiencing within himself all the realities of birth, childhood and the evils of a world under the oppression of evil. Thank you for your on-going service to one another and in the wider community. We are all looking forward to a peaceful and refreshing break. |
